The word is out – summer is coming and so is the second annual Summer Festival in Salt Lake City organized by the Khai Tam Vietnamese Cultural Center Committee of the Vietnamese Unified Buddhist Association of Utah. The day-long festival set to be held outdoors at Rose Park Elementary on Saturday, July 18, 2009 will be a celebration of Vietnamese culture and heritage. The festival promises to be the highlight of Vietnamese-American community’s social calendar. It will be a day for fun, food, music and dance.

The festival will also reach out to other ethnicities, inviting people of other racial origins to discover the strength, talent, intelligence, and beauty of the Vietnamese and its people. We are proud to have other ethnic communities joining the festival to perform, to share and preserve rich tradition of their culture and heritage to maintain the traditions across many generations. Some of the groups represented have included: Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Philippine, Ethiopia, Mexico, Polynesia, Hawaii and Samoa.

This year we welcome the new participating group: the Andersen Tang Soo Do Acedamy will be joining the Summer Festival 2009 with a Kung Fu Show, magician Christopher Fair will present a Magic Show, Belly Dancing by Thia will perform a one hour special program, the Pho Quang Vietnamese Youth will be there with a Dragon Dance, the Ballet Folklorico, and the Hispanic Folk Dance by Utah Hispanic Dance Alliance.

No matter where you are and where you came from, the festival is the venue to rejoice in friendship. Come to experience Summer Festival for the most exciting day of your summer. Bring your family and friends with you to join us for a fantastic times, unbelievable foods, drinks, arts, games, activities, music and performances by various professional and multi-cultural groups.
